EDITING/POST-PRODUCTION

Post Production Management

Story Syndicate

At Story Syndicate, a production company in Brooklyn, NY, I worked remotely as a post supervisor for the documentary special Family Secrets: The Disappearance of Alissa Turney.  The film centers on a sister's quest for truth that uncovers dark family secrets in the investigation of her sister's death.  My primary task was to delegate assignments to assistant editors according to the needs of the editors and to manage the post workflow of the film.  Above is a trailer for the overall series.

Part 2 Pictures

At Part2 Pictures, a production company in Brooklyn, NY, I worked remotely as a post production manager for the first season of Wild Hope.  Wild Hope is a PBS digital series about various projects being undertaken to improve and restore our current state of our planet.  My primary task was to delegate assignment to assistant editors according to the needs of the editors and post workflow.  This included media organization using Avid Media Composer and DaVinci Resolve, along with deliverables management using Google Drive, FrameIO, and other online tools.  Above is a trailer for the overall series.

EDITOR

Lucky Dog Films

At Lucky Dog Films, a production company in Silver Spring, MD, I worked on an on-call basis as an editor, assistant editor, and post-production logger for a number of reality/non-scripted and documentary production assignments.  The first video clip from one of the cable reality TV series that I've worked on in several capacities.  In Season 2, I worked as a post-production logger cataloging that season's footage through Avid/Excel spreadsheets for the delivery assignment to the network.  In Season 5, I performed this task again with the added assignment of being an assistant editor for Season 6 footage that was being filmed at the same time.  The assistant editing tasks involved syncing, multicam, transcoding, developing proxies, and other editing setup tasks using primarily Adobe Premiere (along with other programs like Davinci Resolve for transcoding).  The second one is the opening scene from the short documentary "Third Base to Faith", which I was the assistant editor/first cut editor.  For this film, I created all of the rough cuts for the film and performed a pivotal role in laying the groundwork for the structure of the story as a whole.  As of this moment, the film is currently going through the online process and other finishing touches before being networked for potential distribution.

IKAM PRODUCTIONS

I worked with IKAM Productions as a remote editor for several of their short films.  Using DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere, and Adobe After Effects on my home office workstation, I worked with the producers in developing the films, creating rough/final cuts, and delivering a master cut for later post-production refinement.  Above is the test trailer for the film The Catcher, which was submitted to SXSW's short film competition and is now being networked for continued funding and other future opportunities.  Please forgive the audio issues in this clip, which are still being worked on at the time of this posting.

SKILL SCOUT

Skill Scout is a company based out of Chicago, Illinois that works with clients on their visual presentation for their employment opportunities.  Instead of really on the standard written ad, they work with their clients to create videos to illustrate the basic principles of the job that is to be advertised.  As an off-site editor, I develop the video from scratch using the raw media that is delivered and (with little to no guidance from a producer) create a finished product.  This particular video is for Nation Pizza & Foods opening for a palletizer in their packing facility.

Fitbound

Fitbound is an online video website dedicated to health and fitness primarily focused on kids and teens.  I edited over 20 videos for a recent series of

routines that centered on exercises for kids that included variations for those with physical disabilities.  These routines included dance, yoga, and high-intensity aerobics.  The software I used for the entire editing process was DaVinci Resolve, which is the primary editing platform I use for my independent projects unless requested to do otherwise by the client.  This video in particular is a supercut that the client requested for the site's homepage.  Normally, I would include the company logo at the end of the video, but I was instructed by the client to leave it out.  For more information about the company and their videos, go to Fitbound.com.

First Baptist Church Inc. (North Brentwood, MD) Media Ministry

Along with serving as a technical/live event director for the First Baptist Church Inc. (North Brentwood, MD) Media Ministry, I also volunteer as a video editor and assist with the management of their social media presence on Youtube and Facebook.  Above is a video from their Good Friday 2020 series "Cries from the Cross", a collection of sermons from the ministers of the church during the Easter celebration of that year.  I developed all seven videos using DaVinci Resolve, FFmpeg, and Handbrake, which was then posted to the church's Youtube and Facebook pages.  I chose this particular video because it involved the task of integrating vertical video with standard horizontal video, which can be an issue when dealing with clients that are not as technologically savvy as others.

Assistant Editor/Other Post-Production Support Positions

Discovery Communications (WilmaTV)

This is a clip from Iron Resurrection, the non-scripted show that I worked on as an assistant editor with Discovery Communications (WilmaTV), which can be seen on Motortrend.  As a part of this production, I was involved with all facets of post-production support tasks, such as importing/exporting, syncing, transcoding, working with proxies, prepping footage for online editing, and overall managing the show's workflow using Avid Media Composer.  This also involved managing the process through several studios locations and dealing with numerous post personnel working out of remote areas.

The Suffering

This is the trailer from a horror film called The Suffering that I worked on as the data input technician/assistant editor.  Along with handling/preparing their footage and creating dailies, I edited a scene of the movie that was used as a sizzle to lobby for more production funds.

Glass Entertainment Group

These are several video clips from reality TV/non-fiction shows that I was assistant editor on while working for Glass Entertainment Group, a production company in Philadelphia, PA.  The assignment I performed included standard editing setup (importing, transcoding, syncing), exporting/delivery, archiving, and many other tasks that involved either post-production or general office operations.  The post operations centered around an AVID ISIS system, which was the primary software used for editing the shows.  These shows include The Vet Life, Big Easy Motors, Desert Flippers, and numerous other cable television programs.
